Forecast: National Weather Service Miami
Everyone is back. School is back, work is back, the traffic is back, and the only thing still on vacation is the weather. ☁️
Let's get into it.
The Rundown
A Boca public school has the 19th best football team in the country
West Boca Raton is 2-0, and it is not a soft 2-0. They went to Plantation on August 21 and beat American Heritage 24-7, then hung 37-0 on Spanish River Friday night. 🏈 MaxPreps updated the rankings Sunday: 19th in the country. Third in Florida. Second in 5A.
They are home Thursday at 6:30 against Cardinal Newman. So is everybody else, more or less. All four Boca public high schools play Thursday night.

Clint Moore is down to one lane, and the reason is a wall
Woodfield Country Club is building an eight foot wall along its Clint Moore frontage between the Turnpike and Jog, and taking out mature landscaping to do it. The county was told to expect intermittent lane closures. What drivers are getting is eight to ten hours at a stretch, eastbound down to one lane.
The wall is in Boca. The backup is in unincorporated Palm Beach County, which is the part nobody signed off on. If Clint Moore is your morning, leave earlier than you think.

Five miles of trails, a dog park and a thousand trees are now actually under construction
The east side of North Park broke ground Thursday, 70 acres of the old Ocean Breeze golf course in Boca Teeca. More than five miles of walking and riding trails, a dog park, a playground, exercise equipment along the way and over 1,000 native trees. Butters Construction has the job. No completion date was given, which is its own kind of answer.
Boca Paddle, the pickleball and padel club going in on the same property, is expected to open in November.

Twenty five years. FAU climbs the stadium Friday morning, ten rounds, 2,050 steps, because that is what 110 floors comes out to and 110 floors is what first responders walked up while everyone else was walking down. Gather at Gate 1 by the flagpoles and park in Lot 5. Some people do it in a weight vest or full duty gear. Plenty do it in sneakers. Nobody is timing you. Free. 777 Glades Road.

Mizner Park Amphitheater is launching a festival called Passport to Pours and the gimmick is a good one. They hand you an actual passport. Twelve country bars, and you collect stamps as you go. Around sixteen food vendors between them, plus music and performance. 🍸 Tickets are on sale now, and a first year festival is exactly where the good tickets go quietly. 590 Plaza Real.

Taco Labs is closed Mondays, which makes Tuesday their Friday
Three dollar tacos and five dollar margaritas, all day. Not a happy hour window. Not after six. All day, every Tuesday. 🌮
The tacos hold up at any price. Tortillas, chips and salsas are made in house, the birria and the al pastor are the two everyone names first, and a new taco from somewhere else in the world goes on the board every month, so it is never quite the same menu twice.
1956 NE 5th Ave. Open 11:30 to 10 tonight. Closed Mondays, which is why Tuesday here feels like a reopening every single week. Want to go bigger? Wednesday is all you can eat at $24.99. 561-961-0585.

432 reviews and a 4.8, and they split cleanly into two camps: the people who go for Roxanne, Jackie or Lexi and will not let another human near their color, and the people who go for the other half of the building. 💅 Salon Oasis Med Spa is women-owned and does both under one roof at 6100 Glades Road, Suite 101, in the Town Executive Center.
Their September offer went up yesterday: six laser hair removal sessions for $700 on a small or medium area. They are calling it Fall Into Beauty, which is a bold name for a month that is not dropping below 88, but the price is real and it ends with September.

Legacy Furniture Consignment on North Federal is the store you walk into for a lamp and leave having bought a sofa. 🛋️
Consigned furniture, art, rugs and accessories, and the floor turns over constantly because that is how consignment works. What is in there was somebody's Boca living room a month ago, which is exactly why it reads better than what the same money buys new. Go twice in one month and it is a different store.
Selling rather than buying? They take pieces on a 120 day, fifty fifty contract, and they run estate sales and liquidations too.
2980 N Federal Highway. Open seven days, Monday to Saturday 10 to 6, Sunday 12 to 5. 561-409-2126.

Good to Know
566 reviews. Every single one is five stars.
That is not a typo and it is not a small sample. Ceramic Pro Boca Raton, which everyone here just calls Johnny's, sits at 3601 N Dixie Highway, Bay 4. 🚗
Tint, vinyl wraps, paint protection film, ceramic coating, paint correction, detailing. In a town where the sun is the main threat to your car and the car is a statement, that is the whole menu in one bay.
Read a few reviews and the same thing keeps happening: a guy scheduled Johnny straight from the dealership while he was still buying the truck. Somebody brought a Bentley, a BMW and a Jag F-type. Johnny replies to every review himself, and he keeps writing the same line back, that it was an honor to work on your car. Veteran-owned, women-owned and Latino-owned, all three.
Open at 8. Ask for Johnny, Gloria or Andres.
