Issue No. 10 | Thursday, September 10, 2026

Eighty-seven today and only a twenty-six percent chance that anything lands on you, which for September is basically a favor. Save the evening, because there’s a lot going on after six.

Let's get into it.

The Rundown

Boca is pulling its roadside license plate cameras off state roads

The Florida Department of Transportation has ordered every automated license plate reader on state roads and state rights of way to come down by September 30, and Boca Raton says 26 of its cameras are affected. Police spokeswoman Officer Jessica Desir said the ones coming down are the fixed roadside units. The department runs 262 readers in total and most of them are mounted on police cars, so the program isn’t going anywhere, just the poles. Around here the state roads are Federal Highway, A1A, Glades, Yamato east of Military Trail and a short stretch of Spanish River.

Florida may be looking at tutors who sit just off camera

BocaNewsNow reports that at least one state agency may be looking into private tutors in Palm Beach County who help students cheat on Florida Virtual School tests. The method described is simple enough to picture: the tutor sits just outside the camera frame and feeds answers while the teacher watches the student on screen. Nobody has been charged and the reporting is careful to say may, but if you have a kid enrolled in virtual school, it’s worth knowing the state is paying attention.

A Palm Beach County museum volunteer just won a statewide award

Michael McKeich has been named the Florida Association of Museums’ 2026 Outstanding Volunteer, the Historical Society of Palm Beach County announced. He’s spent years as a docent at the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum in West Palm, walking visitors and school groups through the county’s history. It’s the kind of work nobody does for the recognition, which is usually a sign the recognition is deserved.

What's On

Thursday, September 10, 6:30pm

Boca Run Club 🏃 meets at Red Reef Golf Course, 1221 N Ocean Blvd and heads out into the sunset. It’s free, any pace, any distance, and nobody’s checking your splits. You sign the waiver once on a Google Form, RSVP on Strava, and show up. They also run Sundays at 8:30am. One catch worth knowing: the meeting spot moves when they team up with another club, so check the monthly calendar on their Instagram before you drive over.

Thursday, September 10, 6 to 6:30pm

Thirty minutes and thirteen dollars, and you’ll walk out knowing why the good stuff never touches a lime. 🥃 Spirits & Spice in Mizner Park runs its Tequila Experience as a guided walk through the regions and the distilling, not a flight of shots with a paper menu. 21 and over, and that’s the only rule. Half an hour means it’s a stop on the way to dinner rather than the whole evening, which is the most Mizner Park thing about it. It runs again on the 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th and 25th if tonight’s already spoken for.

The Plate

The Uptown room that cooks without a drop of seed oil

Anyday 🥑 is at 9658 Glades Road in Uptown Boca and it’s open 10 to 10 every day, which is how one room manages to be breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner without ever changing clothes. Owner Alican Ozturk built the whole menu 100% seed-oil free, every plate, no exceptions, which is the kind of claim most kitchens quietly put an asterisk on. Coffee and matcha in the morning, Spanish tapas and natural wine at night, happy hour 3 to 6 daily, and the bar stays open until midnight on weekends.

The Glow

The studio that fixes the brows somebody else tattooed on you

Kaviar Skin Studio ✨ at 4400 N Federal Highway, Suite 102 does lashes and brows, but the service worth knowing about is permanent makeup correction. Boca’s full of brows that were microbladed somewhere else in 2019 and have been quietly turning grey ever since. They publish their whole price list on the site, which in this category is rarer than it should be, so you can see the number before you book.

The Find

Four generations of jewelers, and they will take your old ring as trade

Devon’s Diamonds & Decor 💍 is at 502 Via De Palmas, Suite 78 in Royal Palm Place, and it’s the rare Boca jeweler that puts its numbers on the wall. Pieces run from about $1,400 to $19,000, they do custom design, and they take trade-ins, which is the polite way of saying you can turn a ring you don’t wear into one you do. There’s decor in there too, so it doubles as the place to solve a housewarming gift you forgot about.

Good to Know

The Boca shop that warranties every repair for two years

Boca’s Best Auto Repair 🔧 sits at 160 NW 11th Street and it’s been family owned since 1994, three generations of it. They work on BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche alongside everything domestic, they’re AAA Approved and NAPA AutoCare, and the technicians are ASE certified with about sixty years of experience between them. Here’s the part that’s actually rare: every repair carries a two year, 24,000 mile warranty, and if they end up doing the work, the tow there is free. They’re open 8 to 5 weekdays and the number is (561) 391-0520.
