A $125 million police headquarters is heading for the March ballot after the last one failed, twelve countries are setting up in Mizner Park on October 3, and the 70 acres behind Boca Teeca finally has trucks on it.

Let's get into it.

The Rundown

You are voting on a police headquarters again, for fifty million less 🏠

The city's next police services complex is headed for the March 9, 2027 ballot, a year after Boca voters rejected a $175 million version. This round is a $100 to $125 million target, either one site off Spanish River Boulevard or a six story building downtown.

Final ballot language is due to the county by November 10, so the number gets locked this fall.

You said no once. They came back fifty million lighter.

Twelve countries are setting up in Mizner Park for one night 🍷

Passport to Pours debuts at the Mizner Park Amphitheater on Saturday, October 3, 4pm to 10pm. You get a passport and 16 sample pours across 12 country setups, from Japan to Ireland to Brazil.

It is 21 and up, and parking is free in all four Mizner Park garages.

A sticker book for adults. Boca was always going to get one of these.

The 70 acres behind Boca Teeca finally has trucks on it 🐶

The Beach and Park District broke ground on the east side of North Park, the old Ocean Breeze golf course at NW 2nd Ave and Jeffrey St. Coming: five miles of trails, a dog park and a playground, plus over 1,000 native trees.

Boca Paddle, the pickleball and padel club on the same site, is expected to open in November.

Chair Bob Rollins called it the end of the beginning. The shovels were gold.

What's On

Wednesday in Boca

The number one team in the country is playing on Military Trail tonight ⚽

Lynn University hosts Florida Tech in women's soccer tonight, and Florida Tech walks in ranked No. 1. It is a Sunshine State Conference match at home.

Kickoff is 6pm at Bobby Campbell Stadium.

Lynn does not publish a ticket price for women's soccer, so ask at the gate. If you cannot get there it streams on Sunshine State Conference TV with live stats, both linked from the team's own schedule page.

The best team in Division II is in Boca on a Wednesday and nobody is talking about it.

The free salsa lesson downtown that nobody puts on a flyer 💃

Cosmo's Nightclub & Lounge runs Latin Wednesdays every week on SE 1st Avenue, and the part people miss is the lesson at the front of the night. DJ Uri takes it from there.

Doors at 8pm, a free salsa and bachata class from 8:30 to 9:30, and there is no cover.

It runs 8pm to midnight and it is 21+. You do not need a partner and you do not need to know anything, which is the whole reason the class sits before the dancing instead of after it. The weekly night and the 8:30 class time are listed on the venue page.

The Plate

The beef empanada that shows up under powdered sugar ☕

Valentina's Bakery is Peruvian, and the Empanada Peruana is where to start. Beef, olives, raisins and boiled egg, dusted in powdered sugar, with lime slices on the side.

The empanada is $5.15, a large alfajor is $6, and the milhojas is $8.

The rest of the menu keeps going like that. A tamal wrapped in banana leaf is $9. The Cuatro Leches cup uses four milks instead of three. The Lucumatcha, $7.50, is house made lucuma puree, a Peruvian fruit that tastes like butterscotch, stirred into matcha. The chicharron sandwich is pork belly and sweet potato on their own baguette for $15.

The Glow

There is a med spa in every plaza. This one is open until 8 on a Sunday ✨

Cosmetica Med Spa sits on N Federal Highway and does the usual list, injectables, laser, skin. What it does differently is stay open: 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, Sunday included.

New patients get $100 off when they spend more than $200.

4400 N Federal Hwy, Suite 150. 561-621-1578.

Take the 7pm on a Sunday. Everywhere else shut at five on Friday.

The Move

The Clint Moore studio that will not let you into a class until you have done three privates 💪

Vault Fitness West Boca teaches classical Pilates on apparatus and it gatekeeps on purpose. Everyone starts the same way, however many reformer classes you have already taken.

The Welcome Special is three private sessions for $195, which is $65 each.

After that, a single group class is $40 or $350 for ten, and a semi private for two or three people is $60. Arrive 15 minutes early your first time, bring grip socks or buy them in the lobby, and skip the perfume. Group classes carry a 12 hour cancellation window, and one membership covers the west, east and hot rooms.

9930 Clint Moore Road, Suite D101. 561-483-4160.

Three sessions before they trust you with a class. Most places would just take the money.

The Find

A New York boutique chain has fourteen stores and put the only Florida one on Glades 👗

Mixology Clothing Company runs fourteen stores. Thirteen are in New York and New Jersey. The other one is in Lakeside Centre on Glades Road, west of the Turnpike, which is not where that buy usually lands.

Thursday is the late night, open until 7, and they are open Sundays 11am to 6pm.

The rack is contemporary, not resort: Z Supply, BLANKNYC, Lioness, Central Park West, Vervet and Jac Parker. Their September Trend Report is the fastest way to see what the buyers are actually pushing this month, and it sits next to everything that just landed. Otherwise they are open 10am to 6pm Monday through Saturday, walk in, no appointment.

Good to Know

The Boca building with a cold plunge, a poker room and an air conditioned dog spa 🏠

10X Boca Raton is 400 apartments on North Military Trail, dropped into the old Arvida Park of Commerce after the city rezoned that office park so people could actually live inside it.

One bedrooms start at $2,709.15 a month, and that figure already includes the mandatory fees.

The amenity list is the reason to look: an indoor cold plunge, a steam room and a sauna, a dog park plus an air conditioned pet spa, a game room and poker room, a movie theater, massage rooms, a heated beach entry pool and a nine hole putting green. Pets are $575 for one and $825 for two, $25 a month each, capped at 75 pounds combined, and they want to meet the dog first. There are no studios, so a one bedroom is the way in.

There is also a life size chess set in the courtyard. Somebody in leasing really went for it.

Want Boca to know your name?

Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.

If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.

That's your day.

Tonight splits neatly in two. At 6, Lynn hosts the number one team in the country in women's soccer on Military Trail, and the only thing it costs you is the drive. At 8, Cosmo's runs the free salsa and bachata class downtown before DJ Uri takes it to midnight, no cover, 21 and up. Soccer then salsa is a real Wednesday if you want one.

The rest is daytime. An $8 Peruvian milhojas, a $149 membership on Yamato that covers seven different treatments, three private Pilates sessions for $195 on Clint Moore before anyone lets you into a class, a New York rack that landed on Glades, and a building on Military Trail with a cold plunge and a dog spa in it. Pick one and go.

Something we missed? Hit reply, we read everything.
