Lake Boca is open for swimming again after six days shut, the green market starts its season on Sunday with sixty-five vendors, and Basilic reopens Friday at a new address.

Let’s get into it.

The Rundown

You can get back in Lake Boca ⚓

The health department lifted the no-swim advisory at Lake Boca and the Intracoastal by the resort, six days after a wastewater spill shut it on September 18. The city says drinking water was never affected.

Testing by the state, the city and DEP put bacteria back in the acceptable range.

The 24 to 48 hours everyone was promised turned into a week.

The Sunday green market is back this weekend 🌱

Boca Green Market opens its season Sunday at the 5th Ave Shops and then runs every Sunday until May 2. Sixty-five-plus vendors, live music, and the dog is welcome.

Free to walk in, 9am to 1pm, 1954 NE Fifth Avenue.

That is your Sunday morning handled until May.

The pho place that lost its downtown lease reopens Friday 🔥

Basilic Vietnamese Cuisine reopens on NW Second Avenue, five months after its downtown room was sold off for the Royal Palm Plaza hotel redevelopment. Same pho, spring rolls and grilled meat, slightly new name.

Doors open Friday, September 25, at 1901 NW Second Avenue.

Losing the lease is not the same as losing the recipe.

What’s On

Thursday in Boca

West Boca lost by a single point last week. Tonight is the district game 💪

The Bulls sit at 4-1 after dropping their first one 15-14, and tonight Olympic Heights comes to their field for the district matchup. Two Boca schools, under the lights, on a Thursday.

Kickoff is 6:30pm at West Boca Raton Community High School.

This is the loudest thing happening in the city tonight and it costs about what a coffee does. If you want a longer evening out of it, Olympic Heights hosts Palm Beach Lakes in girls volleyball at 5:30pm over on Lyons Road and you can still make kickoff. The football schedule and the volleyball schedule are both on MaxPreps.

A Cuban cowboy is bringing country music into a blues bar tonight 🎸

Orlando Mendez performs as The Cuban Cowboy, a Voice alum playing steel guitar with a Miami accent, and tonight he is on stage at The Funky Biscuit, which has spent years booking blues and jam bands and nothing like this.

Tickets are $20 to $35, doors at 6pm and the show at 8pm.

Two hours between doors and downbeat is the whole strategy here: eat somewhere on Mizner, walk over, and take a table near the front before the room fills in. The night and the ticket link sit on the venue’s own calendar.

The Plate

A Clint Moore strip plaza is hiding a proper appetizing counter 🍩

The storefront gives away nothing. Inside, Way Beyond Bagels is fanning smoked salmon across a board with capers, lemon, dill and red onion like somebody’s aunt is twenty minutes out, and it has been at it on Clint Moore Road since 7:30am.

Two eggs, home fries, a bagel and coffee is $8.95, weekday mornings until 11.

That is the sleeper. The headline act is everything they spread on a bagel: lox cream cheese, scallion, vegetable, tofu scallion. Then a deli board that stacks properly and chophouse burgers off the grill for people who wandered in at noon. Doors are open seven days until 2:30pm, which is what makes a Saturday out here worth the drive.

9858 Clint Moore Road, Suite 122. 561-883-3535.

Get the lox cream cheese. Thank me on Friday.

The Glow

A seventy-minute facial out in Shadowood, and the first one costs less ✨

Spavia West Boca sits in the Shadowood stretch of Glades Road and runs two facials worth the drive west: the Golden Apple Glow at 60 or 70 minutes, and the Sculpt and Lift Microcurrent at 50, with a longer version that carries on down the décolleté.

New guests take $30 off any facial or massage over $100, Monday through Thursday.

You mention it at checkout when you are done and that is the whole process, no card on file and no membership pitch first. Members do take half off every boost, if you get that far. The last appointment goes out at 8pm on weeknights, which is the part that turns this from something you keep meaning to do into something that actually lands on the calendar.

9834 Glades Road, Suite C15. 561-810-1001.

Somewhere in your week there is ninety minutes. This is what to do with it.

The Move

What decides your first pole class has nothing to do with being strong 💃

It is your skin. The first line of the FAQ at AirDance Fitness, a pole and aerial studio off NW 2nd Avenue, asks you to turn up with no lotion and no body oil, because grip is the entire sport and moisturiser is what sends people sliding down the pole on attempt one.

The first trial class is $20, beginners welcome, and heels are entirely optional.

The room itself earns the trip: 9 X-Poles, 5 flying poles, 8 aerial hammocks and 8 lyra hoops under cobalt light with a neon sign on the wall. Once you have the grip thing sorted you can move into open pole sessions, lyra hoop and flying pole. Doors run 10am to 9pm seven days, so there is a class after work every single night.

4800 NW 2nd Avenue, Suite 7. 561-267-7007.

Nobody in that room was any good at it the first time either.

The Find

Boca voted for a florist you have driven past a hundred times 💐

It is a roller door on Rogers Circle, in among the contractors and the sign shops. Behind it, Petals of Boca Raton is building the long-table, floating-candle, hundred-tulips arrangements that took Best Florist in Boca Raton in 2024.

Order by 2pm on a weekday and it goes out the same day, with Zone 1 delivery a flat $16.

The range runs from the Spring Chic through the Vibrant French Jardin to a dozen Luxe Red Roses, which covers both a regular Thursday and something you need to put right. They stand behind the stems for 24 hours, and if you would rather hand them over yourself, curbside pickup waits at the bay any weekday between 9am and 4pm.

1101 S Rogers Circle, Suite 2. 561-998-3336.

Two o’clock is the magic number. After that you are just a person with good intentions.

Good to Know

Turn up at Boomers after six and ask at the window 🎮

There is an evening deal at Boomers on Airport Road that never appears on the booking screen, and the only way to get it is to walk up and ask for it.

Sunset at Boomers is $30.99 for unlimited attractions plus a $10 arcade card, Sunday through Thursday from 6pm.

That covers go-karts, mini golf and a blacklit laser tag arena for as long as you last. Friday and Saturday have their own version, Boomers After Dark, starting at 7pm, and both are window deals. If a smaller kid is coming along, go-karts take riders at 40 inches and drivers at 58, so they ride shotgun while you drive.

Walk past the app. Talk to the person in the booth.

Want Boca to know your name?

Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.

If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.

That’s your day.

Two gyms and a guitar tonight. Olympic Heights runs volleyball and football an hour apart at opposite ends of Glades, which a determined person turns into one evening, and the Cuban Cowboy walks a steel guitar into a blues bar on Mizner at eight regardless.

The rest is hiding in plain sight, which is the theme today. An appetizing counter behind a strip-plaza door on Clint Moore. A spa out at Shadowood that prints its terms instead of burying them. A room full of poles off NW 2nd where the trick is your skin, not your shoulders. The florist Boca voted for, working out of a roller door on Rogers Circle. Go find one.

Something we missed? Hit reply, we read everything.
