Here’s Why Experts Say to Ditch Your Old Cutting Boards

Before you prep another meal, here’s what you need to know:

  • Plastic boards shed microplastic particles into your food with every cut.

  • Wooden boards trap moisture and food residue, the perfect breeding ground for hidden bacteria and toxic mold that transfers to your food.

Beach chair rentals are holding at ten dollars an hour, the council is deciding whether to leave a seat empty until March, and parking at the beach costs more starting Thursday.

Let's get into it.

The Rundown

Renting a beach chair still costs what it did last summer 🌴

The city re-signed Oceanside Beach Service for the chairs and umbrellas at South Beach, Red Reef and Spanish River parks, and the rates are not moving. Boca expects $185,000 out of it in year one.

A lounge, cabana or umbrella is $10 an hour or $30 all day, and an umbrella for the whole year is $300.

That is real money in forgotten beach chairs.

Boca may go four months with an empty seat on the dais 🏠

Yvette Drucker leaves the council on November 10 to run for county clerk, and the council is deciding whether to appoint anyone before the March 9 election. Mayor Andy Thomson wants it filled so votes cannot deadlock.

Councilwoman Michelle Grau put the whole job at maybe eight meetings, which is what an appointee would actually sit through.

They decide within two weeks whether anybody gets to apply.

The beach gets more expensive on Thursday ⚓

On October 1 a weekday beach day goes from $35 to $40, weekends and holidays go from $50 to $55, and the resident annual permit goes from $85 to $90. The gatehouses stop taking cash the same morning.

Buy the annual permit today or tomorrow and you still pay $85. From Thursday it is $90, and it is cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay only.

The chairs held their price. The parking did not.

nobody is charging you for tonight 🎤

🎤 read a poem out loud to a room of strangers

Pamela Passaretta runs Poets on the Fringe, a weekly poetry workshop where you read your own work out loud and the room tells you what landed. The invitation is open to poets established and emerging. She ran the same thing in Washington, DC for ten years before she ran it here.

Free. 3:30pm to 5:45pm. 18 and up. Spanish River Library, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd.

No reservation, and the seats go. Early is the move.

🌮 taco tuesday, hijacked by FAU

FAU's Paradise Patrol takes over American Social in Mizner Park for taco tuesday and giveaways, landing exactly in the gap between leaving work and deciding what to do with your night. You do not need the degree.

Free. 4:30pm to 6:30pm. American Social, Mizner Park, 351 W Plaza Real Unit 315.

No ticket, no list, and the patio is the good part.

The Glow

✨ a medspa that bills you like a gym

All About Aesthetics sells monthly memberships instead of one-off appointments, which is how you end up with a standing skincare habit rather than a once-a-year panic before an event. Niki Radovic is the board certified nurse practitioner who does the injecting herself, not a name on the door.

A PLUS is $99 a month. A LIST is $275 a month. The TOX membership is $169.

Not signing up for anything? The Hydrafacial is 30 minutes, which fits in a lunch break.

All About Aesthetics, 21301 Powerline Rd Ste 108. 561-757-7391.

Ninety-nine a month is roughly what you already spend on the products that are not working.

The Move

💪 twenty dollars gets you on a reformer

Classes run 50 minutes, with modifications called out for every level, so nobody is watching you fail.
