The seventeen million dollar paddle place finally has a month 🎾
The paddle and pickleball complex the district has been building since August 2025 is now due to open in November, and it is $17 million of indoor and outdoor courts with food service built in.
Anticipated opening is November 2026. Indoor courts mean your league survives a Wednesday like this one.
Somewhere to go when the sky does what it is doing today.
Ninety minutes with the mayor, and you get to talk 🏠
Mayor Andy Thomson is running an informal town hall on Wednesday, October 14, and the point of it is questions from the room rather than a slide deck.
6 to 7:30pm on the Spanish River Library mezzanine, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd. No ticket, no cost.
Bring the thing you keep complaining about in the group chat.

Thanksgiving for a whole family costs under thirty dollars 💐
Boca Helping Hands is running its 22nd Thanksgiving Box Brigade out of 1500 NW 1st Court, and it wants to feed 24,000 people, priced per box instead of as a vague ask.
$29.72 buys one full box with the turkey in it. Take five or more home to fill yourself and they need them back by Monday, November 16.
That is one round of drinks, and it is a table of four.

get there at five, sing at ten 🍔
Happy hour runs 11:30am to 7pm, $4.25 drafts and $5 call drinks. KJ Aaron takes over later, $6 cheeseburger and fries all night. Family run since 2009, open till 2am, 365 days a year. The longest happy hour downtown, and it is not close.
O'Brian's Irish Pub, 51 SE 1st Ave. 561-338-7565.
rockabilly, in a comedy room 🎸
Wednesday, 8 to 10pm. The Hillbilly Hellcats, a touring rockabilly trio, at the Black Box. The date is on the band's own tour list, and a room built for stand-up is a very good place to hear an upright bass.
Boca Black Box, 8221 Glades Rd Suite 10. 561-483-9036.
The Plate
eating better, without the sad salad 🥗

That cutlet is plants, and it still crunches. Photo: Greens and Grains
For the week you decide to clean things up and then lose your nerve at lunch. Greens and Grains is entirely plant-based, and none of it eats like a punishment. The Gyro is the one that converts people, seasoned plant protein in pita with tzatziki, and you will not clock what is missing.
The Gyro $12.50. Sesame Crunch Salad $15. Cold-pressed juice is $4 on a blowout right now.
Greens and Grains, 179 SE Mizner Blvd. 561-576-2585.
Start with the gyro. Work up to the cleanse.
The Glow
real dried flowers, set inside the gel 💅

Look at the middle finger. That is a real flower. Photo: Luxury Nails
Most places out west will give you a colour and send you home. Luxury Nails in Boca Del Mar does the actual work: pressed flowers sealed under clear gel, mirror chrome laid over ombre, glitter foil suspended mid-nail, hand-painted vines down a coffin tip. Walk in with a screenshot and they will go further than it.
Thirty-eight services on the open menu, colour change up to a full Gel X set. Closed Mondays.
Luxury Nails, 6030 SW 18th St Unit A4. 561-757-5684.
Bring the picture. Ask for the flowers.

Want Boca to know your name?
Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.
If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.
Want your business featured? Hit reply and tell us what you're up to. We read everything, and we go and look.
That's your day.
Tonight you can sing or you can sit still. O'Brian's runs a happy hour that starts before most people have had lunch and hands over the microphone by ten, and the Black Box has given a comedy room to a rockabilly trio for two hours. Either one is a whole evening and neither asks much of you.
The rest is here because it is worth the drive. Plants that eat like the real thing, flowers set under the gel, a dance class that tells you how hard it is before you pay, two floors of rugs that came down from New York, and a photographer who will shoot your place at dusk. Pick one and go.
The Good in Boca Team
