The CBD Brand that Actually Does What It Says
CBD is having a moment and CBD brands are everywhere right now. But with so many options, it can be tough to know what to look for – and which brands actually follow through on their claims.
That’s where CBDistillery sets itself apart. For the past decade, all of CBDistillery's products have been made with non-GMO, US-grown industrial hemp and with 100% clean ingredients – no corn syrup or artificial colors, flavors, preservatives or sweeteners.
They frequently introduce new and innovative products formulated to meet a variety of wellness needs and customer preferences. And every single batch of CBDistillery’s gummies, oil tinctures, topicals and softgels are tested by an independent, accredited lab to make sure what’s in the package matches what’s on the label.
Right now, CBDistillery is offering our readers a special deal: save 50% on orders of $75 or more with code NEWS50!

A private club with a speakeasy on the fifth floor cleared its first vote downtown, Monday is the last day to register if you want a say in November, and the city just put out a Halloween calendar with a wiener dog race in it.
Let's get into it.
The Rundown
A speakeasy is coming downtown, and you will need a membership 🍷
The city's planning and zoning board signed off unanimously on an eight story, 54,681 square foot private social and wellness club beside Sanborn Square, with a rooftop and 85 automated underground valet spaces.
The fifth floor alone holds a wine cellar, a speakeasy, a card room, an Asian-infused restaurant and a library.
It goes to the CRA next. Plenty of time to find a member who likes you.

Monday is the last day to register if you want a say in November 🏠
Monday, October 5 is the deadline to register for the November 3 general election, online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov, by mail, or in person.
Register by Monday, October 5, or you are not voting on November 3.
Three days. One form. No excuse that will sound good in November.

The city's Halloween calendar is out, and the dog race is free 🐶
Howl-O-Ween runs Saturday, October 24 from 9am to noon at Countess de Hoernle Park, with a dog show at 9:30, a wiener dog race at 10:30 and the costume contest at 11:30.
It is free, there is no RSVP, and there is a paw spa doing nail trims.
Most of the October calendar is free too. Spooky tennis on the 30th is $30.

The Plate
Blue Moon's chef opened his own fish house 🐟

Skin like that does not happen by accident. Photo: Pexels
Boca Fish House is Chef Daniel Cournoyer's place, and if that name rings a bell it is because he ran Blue Moon Fish Company for years. The kitchen is open to the dining room, so you watch the thing being cooked.
The sautéed Chilean sea bass with potato gnocchi and wild mushrooms is $48, the grilled salmon is $36, and oysters are $4 each.
Boca Fish House, 7050 W Palmetto Park Rd Ste 31. 561-372-9112.
Dinner only, closed Mondays, and reservations go through a human on the phone.
Joseph's puts eggplant Milanese on a roll 🥪
Joseph's Classic Market is a gourmet grocery with a real deli counter behind it, doing New York slices, hand-tossed pies, strombolis and sandwiches built to order. The butcher case is Certified Angus, hand cut daily.
Every sandwich and wrap on the board is $12.99.
The one to get is the Melanzana Caprese, breaded eggplant Milanese with their own mozzarella, marinated roasted red peppers, arugula and pesto aioli. Feeding a crowd, the grilled chicken party sub starts at $45.98.
Joseph's Classic Market, 6000 Glades Rd. 561-347-2314.

The Glow
You can actually go as a couple 💇

The wall is doing a lot, and so is the blonde. Photo: Bliss Salon
Bliss Salon is a women's salon, but the men's haircut sits right there on the same price list, so the two of you can book together and get it done in one trip instead of two errands. They also post three stylist levels with the reasoning for each, so you know who is holding the scissors before you book.
A women's cut starts at $90 and a men's cut at $55, and booking a Mentee means you pay less and get more attention.
Bliss Salon, 17940 N Military Trail Ste 200. 561-988-8989.
Full highlights run from $215, so build in the time and the budget before you sit down.
The beauty school salon takes walk-ins 💅
Boca Beauty Academy runs a campus salon that is open to anybody, walk in or book ahead. The work is done by students, and their own line on it is that they are trained and supervised by licensed teachers.
Classic facial $45, hydrafacial $75, makeup application $35.
The board goes a lot further down than that: microdermabrasion $85, a glycolic peel $65, a brow wax $15. Call for salon times, because the hours posted online are the admissions ones.
Boca Beauty Academy, 7820 Glades Rd. 561-487-1191.
The Move
The girls' night that counts as a workout 💃

Harder than it looks, which is the entire point. Photo: Girl Next Door Fitness
Girl Next Door Fitness is out in Sandalfoot and it is adults only. Everyone starts in the same place: first-timers have to take the Homeroom intro class before anything else, so nobody walks into a room already mid-routine.
New clients get three classes for $45 instead of $85, or ten for $150, good for two months.
Girl Next Door Fitness, 23103 Sandal Foot Plaza Dr. 561-766-3600.
They are in the International Pole Sport Federation dictionary for a trick they invented, so the instruction is real.
A world champion runs the room out west 🥊
Niko's is Nikolay Kovalevich's gym and the credentials are not decoration: 2003 Muay Thai world champion, European champion the year before, and fighters out of UFC, ONE and Bellator have trained under him. There is jiu jitsu too, under a third-degree black belt.
The first class is free and a drop-in is $50.
Spend the free one on boxing, kickboxing or jiu jitsu, whichever you were actually curious about. Months run $220 with a $100 signup, and they want a call before you turn up so the timings are right.

The Find(s)
A thousand frames and a lab out back 😎

Eye Catchers Optique 👓
An independent optical boutique with over a thousand frames and a lab on the premises, which is why they can do emergency and same-day work when a chain would mail your glasses away for two weeks.
They will put new prescription lenses into frames you already own, even frames you did not buy there, and some repairs are done while you wait.
Eye Catchers Optique, 318 E Palmetto Park Rd. 561-338-0081.
Cohen's Judaica 🎁
Family-owned out west since 2003, and the web shop is a fraction of the floor. Over a thousand mezuzahs in glass, stone, lucite and epoxy, and challah boards from $58 up to $155 for the leatherette with the tray.
Their own rule, printed plainly: pick up only, nothing ships. So it is a Saturday errand, not a tab you leave open.
Cohen's Judaica, 8903 Glades Rd Ste H-12. 561-488-2028.
Walter Baker 👗
The label has a store here, and what it is worth going in for is leather. Fall 2026 is what is on the floor now, and the edits running at the moment are built around leather and suede dresses around $698.
Dresses start at $168, and the sale rack drops to $161.
No hours are published anywhere, not on their site and not in the plaza directory, so call before you drive over. The phone that answers is the New York office, weekdays 9am to 5pm.
Walter Baker, 340 Esplanade Ste 55. 212-300-4353.
Fifty years selling dresses out west 👚
The Added Touch has been open for fifty years, which in a Boca plaza is close to geological. Their own line on it, printed on the homepage: we have been in business for 50 years so there's gotta be a reason.
Dresses run $84 and the leggings start at $48.
What they are actually known for is Strap-Its, the one-size seamless bras with swappable decorative straps built for off-the-shoulder and open-back dresses, twelve attachable styles at $39, and they claim the largest collection of them anywhere. Returns run 21 days.
The Added Touch, 8177 W Glades Rd Ste 5. 561-347-1993.
Open till six Monday to Saturday, four on Sunday.
The Drive
Fifteen minutes north, and Sunday is free yoga ✨

Free on Sunday, and the mats go down at nine. Photo: Pexels
Not Boca, close enough to be worth the drive. On Sunday the Coco Market Wellness Festival runs 9am to 3pm at the Delray Beach Amphitheater with yoga, meditation and sound baths all day, plus massage and energy work.
All of it is free, including the classes.
Friday is the First Friday Art Walk, 6pm to 9pm, galleries with the artists in them, free, and this month there is live portrait sketching. Over at Arts Garage you can bring your own food and wine to the table: The Blues Brothers Soul Band Friday at 8pm from $55.50, a Foreigner and Bad Company double bill Saturday at 8pm from $48, and Nat King Cole done by Julius Sanna Sunday at 7pm from $50.50.
Old School Square, 51 N Swinton Ave, Delray Beach. Arts Garage, 94 NE 2nd Ave, Delray Beach.
One tank of gas, and nobody checks whether you live there.
Good to Know
Two months of hurricane season left up there 🏠

Barrel tile, laid by people who work for the company whose name is on the truck. Photo: Caldwell Roofing
Season runs to the end of November, which is long enough for one more bad week. Caldwell Roofing has been family-run here since the 1980s and holds state license CCC-033696.
Their printed rule is the useful bit: every roof is installed by their own crews, never subcontractors.
Caldwell Roofing, 103 NW 43rd St. 561-392-0971.
Worth knowing the answer before the week you need it.
The window people put the warranty in writing 🛠
Boca Impact Window & Door is family-owned with its own install crews and no subcontractors, fitting PGT and CGI units. They take part in the My Safe Florida Home program, which matters if you are chasing that grant.
A two-year labor warranty, stated plainly on their own site.
The units carry the manufacturer's warranty on top of that. License CGC1520762 is current and active on the state record, in Matthew Hillstrom's name at the same address they publish.
Boca Impact Window & Door, 3601 N Dixie Hwy Bay 17. 561-556-4539.

Want Boca to know your name?
Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.
If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.
Want your business featured? Hit reply and tell us what you're up to. We read everything, and we go and look.
That's your weekend.
The volleyball is free on Friday and free again on Sunday, so you can find out whether you actually like going to things before you spend $58 on a stamp book and sixteen pours on Saturday night. Wear pink if you are doing the football too.
Everything else here keeps. The fish house takes reservations by phone, the salon will put two of you in chairs at once, and the roofer is a call you make now so you are not making it in a storm.
Something we missed? Hit reply, we read everything.
The Good in Boca Team
