Let's get into it.
The Rundown
Nobody has beaten FAU since the season opener 🏈
FAU lost its opener to Florida 66-21 and has not lost since, stacking up four straight wins to sit 4-1 and share the top of the American. Seats for the next three home games are half price through a link the Tribune posted.
Four wins in a row, 1-0 in conference play, and the next three home games are half price.
The team nobody circled in August is sharing first place in October.

Five hundred women flew in for a conference in Boca 💪
Called to Lead, run by entrepreneur Sandi Glandt with business strategist Kelly Roach, filled the Boca Raton Innovation Campus ballroom last Thursday with more than 500 women, some in from Canada and Australia. The pitch was faith, family and health sitting alongside the business.
More than 500 attendees, and the motto is we rise by lifting others.
Boca supplied the room. The rest of it bought plane tickets.

What's On
Four Tuscan wines, one guided table 🍷

Chianti on a school night. Photo: The Cellar Market
The Cellar Market walks a room through four wines from Querciabella, a Tuscan estate in Chianti that farms organic and plant based, and puts a plate with every pour. Doors at seven twenty, glasses up at seven thirty, out by nine thirty. Twenty one and over, and parking costs nothing. The ticket page has the full pour list.
Four wines, four pairings, $115.44 all in, and the seats are limited.

Still on sale tonight, which is not a thing that lasts.
Salsa lesson first, DJ after 💃
Boca Latin Dance Studio runs the Wednesday night at Cosmo's and it starts with an hour of teaching, free, salsa and bachata, no partner required and no booking. Then DJ Uriel García takes it to midnight and the floor fills whether or not anyone knows what they are doing. Twenty one and over. The listing has the full night.
Teaching starts 8:30, the DJ goes until midnight.

The Plate
Whole chicken, straight off the spit 🍗

Golden the whole way round. Photo: Joe Schneid
Mississippi Sweets has been smoking in the same spot since 1991, which around here is close to geological. The whole spit roasted chicken is the order and it is takeout only, so this is a drive and a kitchen table rather than a night out. The menu is published in full instead of hidden behind a phone call, and the state inspected them in August. The whole menu is up.
The whole spit roasted chicken is $13.99, takeout only.
Mississippi Sweets BBQ Co, 2399 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton. 561-394-6779
Kitchen runs Wednesday from 11:30am.
The Glow
The Russian manicure, explained 💅

Three weeks before anyone can tell. Photo: Good in Boca
Russian means the cuticle work is done dry with an electric file rather than soaked and clipped, so the polish goes right up to the skin and the regrowth line takes weeks to show instead of days. Elena works one chair and does this and almost nothing else, which is why her book fills before the big salons do. Her prices are posted on the booking page.
Russian manicure is $70 bare, $90 with gel polish, $15 for French or a design.

One chair, so the booking page is the only way in.
The Move
Somebody else does the stretching 💆

Thirty minutes of not doing it yourself. Photo: Life Time
Dynamic Stretch is the recovery room rather than the gym floor: you stay dressed, somebody else takes each joint through its range, and the percussion work goes where you cannot reach. The intro session costs nothing, and the club runs from five in the morning until ten at night, so it fits around a real day. The club page has the booking.
The intro stretch and recovery session is free, and the doors open at 5am.
Life Time Boca Raton, 1499 Yamato Rd, Boca Raton. 561-208-5907
Book it for after work and skip the ice bath debate.
The Find
Orchids that keep blooming 🪴

Still going in March, unlike the roses. Photo: Viva Orchids of Boca Raton
Viva Orchids builds living arrangements instead of cut bouquets, so a Phalaenopsis set in a ceramic bowl with moss and driftwood keeps going for months after flowers would have gone in the bin. They deliver seven days a week, same day if you ask, and checkout takes a gift message and the date you want it there. The Audrey is on their shop.
The Audrey arrangement is $145, and single stem pots start at $79.
Viva Orchids of Boca Raton, 491 NE 20th St, Boca Raton. 561-866-8787
Doors open at 8:30am if you would rather pick the pot yourself.
Good to Know
Model homes you can just walk into 🏡

Nobody checks whether you are actually buying. Photo: GL Homes
Lotus Edge out west has its decorated model homes finished and its clubhouse, pools, fitness floor and racquet courts already open, and walking the models costs nothing. It is the quickest way to see what new construction in Boca looks like at the moment, which is worth knowing whether or not you are in the market for one. GL Homes lists what is open.
The sales center is open daily 10am to 6pm, and homes start at $1.7M.

Want Boca to know your name?
Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.
If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.
Want your business featured? Hit reply and tell us what you're up to. We read everything, and we go and look.
That's your day.
Four Tuscan wines land on a table downtown at seven thirty tonight with somebody who knows them doing the talking, which beats standing in front of a shelf guessing. If that is not your night, the teaching at Cosmo's starts at eight thirty, costs nothing, and nobody expects you to turn up with a partner.
The rest keeps. A whole chicken off the spit, the manicure that survives three weeks of regrowth, half an hour of someone stretching you for free, orchids that outlast a bouquet by months, and model homes out west you can walk through for nothing. Pick one and go.
