Federal Highway settles into its final lane pattern tonight, two federal officials turn up at FAU tomorrow to talk about who gets to buy American tech, and the last firehouse in Boca without a full crew is about to get one.

Let's get into it.

The Rundown

Federal Highway picks its lanes tonight 🚌

Southbound US 1 between Camino Real and SE 5th Street moves into the two left lanes at 8pm tonight, and FDOT is calling that the final pattern. Northbound stays down to one lane on the same stretch through Friday while the drainage work finishes.

One lane each way at Camino Real also shuts on and off, 8:30am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Leave five minutes early and skip the horn.

Two federal chiefs land at FAU tomorrow 💼

Treasury assistant secretary Chris Pilkerton and SBA administrator Kelly Loeffler hold a roundtable at FAU on Tuesday about foreign money buying into American technology. D-Wave Quantum and Concurrent Real-Time are both at the table, along with FAU researchers and the local economic development offices.

It runs 11am to 12:30pm in the Engineering East Building, 601 NW 20th Street.

Boca keeps turning up on the federal calendar.

Boca’s one part time firehouse goes round the clock 🔥

Station 8, off SW 18th Street west of South Dixie, is the only city firehouse not staffed 24 hours, and the budget that took effect this month pays for 12 firefighter EMTs and four lieutenants to end that. A rescue truck gets parked there for good, which frees up the crews that have been covering the gap.

The fire rescue fee went from $155 to $224. The property tax rate did not move.

Chief John Treanor put it plainly. The time is right.

What's On
Thirty agave brands, one wristband 🍷

The Tequila Fest turns five this year and for the first time every pour and every plate sits inside the ticket, so nobody is hunting for drink chips. Thirty plus agave brands, twenty plus restaurants, five DJs, and a cooking competition the crowd helps judge.

Advance only. Nothing is sold at the gate, which is the part people get wrong every year.

It runs Saturday, November 7, VIP doors at 4pm and general admission at 5pm, listed to 8pm, and it is 21 and over. All inclusive passes start at $99 and VIP at $150, before fees.

Buy it now or watch it sell without you.

Michelle Cann holds the first Eleanor Sokoloff Chair in Piano Studies at Curtis and has soloed with Philadelphia, Chicago, Cleveland and the LA Phil. Tonight she runs a master class at Lynn, which means students play and she stops them.

It is free, it starts at 6pm, and the only thing asked of you is that you register.

It runs 6pm to 7:30pm in the Amarnick-Goldstein Concert Hall, and a master class is the rare hour where you hear one passage taken apart and put back together.

Sit at the back. Nobody will make you play.

The Plate

Florida's best butcher counter is in Boca 🥩

This is what the case looks like on a good week. Photo: Beauregard's Fine Meats

Tasting Table went looking for the best butcher shop in every state in July and, for Florida, landed on Beauregard's. Cameron Falls trained at the CIA and cooked fifteen years in New York. Shary Almodovar runs the kitchen.

The beef is Florida Cracker Cattle, one of the oldest breeds in the country, grazed as long as seven years before anybody cuts it.

They do whole animal butchery and dry age on site, with the farms named on the board. The counter runs Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30am to 6pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. Sandwiches land between $17 and $27.

Make it a Tuesday. Ask what came in.

The Glow

Boca voted on hair color and picked her ✨

Sharon Overton opened Bliss in 2009, has spent thirty five years behind the chair and still takes clients herself. Readers handed her salon the 2026 Readers' Choice win for hair in September.

Ask for the face frame with babylights. That is the one the colorists here show off with.

A single process starts at $90, partial highlights at $175 and full at $215. Monday is their short day, 10am to 4pm, so call ahead rather than walking in.

Bliss Salon, 17940 N Military Trail Ste 200, Boca Raton. 561-988-8989.

Go for the color. That is what the city actually voted for.

Picked for the numbers, not the vote 🧊

Restore runs biomarker testing in the same room as the therapies, which almost nobody here does, so you find out whether the thing moved a number or just felt nice. It holds 4.9 from 522 Google reviews.

Pink Out is Saturday October 25, all day, with local vendors and samples, and wearing pink gets you a free core service if you book ahead.

Restore Hyper Wellness, 21170-1 St. Andrews Blvd, Boca Raton. 561-409-0003.

Book the Pink Out slot now, not that morning.

Salis Charming is IPSF and Liquid Motion certified, is hearing impaired, and founded an online pole competition for deaf and disabled athletes. Her floor staff are all women and she teaches most of the board herself.

Monday runs six classes back to back and the 5pm foundations hour is the one you can walk into cold.

Today it is 11am intro, 12pm tricks, 5pm foundations, 6pm inverts, 7pm beginner tricks and 8pm intermediate. A pole class is $30, a trial is $20 and three run $80.

The Find

Twelve bags here come with a certificate 👗

Alana Harris started buying at estate sales at twenty one and has held a storefront since 2013 with a staff of twelve women. Two hundred and fifty pieces come through in a week and the floor turns about every fortnight.

Twelve bags on the floor carry an Entrupy certificate, which is third party authentication with a money back guarantee behind it, and several Chanel pieces are microchipped.

The woven purple tote in the picture is $1,150. A Gucci Marmont with the certificate is $985 and Chanel wedges are $250. Doors are open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm.

Today is the day. The weekend already picked it over.

Good to Know

Nail trims for parrots and rabbits 🐦

Fresh out, and insufferable about it. Photo: UszkarFoto92 / CC0

Fur Crazy is a named finalist for groomer in the Boca Raton Observer 2026 Readers' Choice, and Dawn is hands on with the dogs herself rather than running a desk. Soap free hypoallergenic shampoo is the default and the flea shampoo is pesticide free.

They trim nails on rabbits and parrots, and fish and turtles are free, which is not a sentence any other grooming shop in town is writing.

A dog nail trim is $15 and a cat is $20. Bring your own prescription shampoo and they will use it. They run Tuesday to Saturday and are closed Sunday and Monday.

Fur Crazy Pet Salon, 9220 Glades Rd, Boca Raton. 561-488-2242.

Call them. The phone is the fastest way in.

Want Boca to know your name?

Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.

If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.

Want your business featured? Hit reply and tell us what you're up to. We read everything, and we go and look.

That's your day.

Tonight's free thing starts at six and nobody is checking a ticket, so if you want to hear somebody very good take a student apart gently, that is the one.

The rest of it keeps. The butcher counter opens again Tuesday, the pole floor runs all day today, and the November thing is the one to buy now rather than remember later.
