Forecast: National Weather Service Miami
Sixteen downtown restaurants are selling one afternoon of tastings for sixty five dollars, FAU's winning run ended at West Point on Saturday, and the sushi room at Uptown Boca is becoming a dumpling house.
Let's get into it.
The Rundown
Eat your way through downtown on one ticket 🍺
The Rotary Club of Boca Raton is running the Savor Boca Experience on November 14, a self guided tasting tour of 16 restaurants and specialty shops across Mizner Park, Mizner Plaza and downtown.
Tickets are $65 a person or $100 for two, and the after party is included in both.
Check in is at the Mizner Park median, where you pick up a passport and a swag bag, and every stop stamps it between 1:30 and 4:30pm. American Social, Kapow Noodle Bar, Ramen Lab Eatery, Talkin' Tacos, Poke Jay and Crema are on the list. The after party is at Serena Pastificio with music, a silent auction and an extended happy hour.
Bring the friend who always picks the restaurant.

FAU's winning run ended at West Point 🏈
The Owls had taken four straight until Saturday, when Army beat them 56 to 24. That leaves Florida Atlantic at 4-2 on the season and 1-1 in the conference.
Rice comes to Boca this Saturday at noon, the first home game in three weeks.
Kickoff is at Flagler Credit Union Stadium and the game is on ESPNU. FAU has won every home game it has played this year, taking Navy 38-30, FIU 16-10 and Texas Southern 66-10 on campus. Both losses came on the road.
Home has been the easy part so far.

The sushi room at Uptown Boca is becoming a dumpling house 🔥
Zen Sushi + Robata Grill has closed at Uptown Boca, and Nana's Dim Sum & Dumplings is taking the space.
It is the Colorado chain's first Florida location, and no opening date has been set.
Nana's runs seven rooms around Colorado plus Scarsdale and Tulsa, and the kitchen makes xiao long bao, shao mai, shrimp dumplings and pan fried pork buns fresh daily, alongside Peking duck, truffle soup buns and noodle bowls. The address is 9690 Glades Road.
No date yet. Start checking.

What's On
The chef quit banking for coq au vin 🍷

The sauce is the whole argument. Photo: Chez Marie French Bistro
Chez Marie is Marie and Stephane Gattacieca's bistro in west Boca. He was an investment banker before he trained at the Paul Bocuse institute in Lyon, and readers of the Boca Raton Observer voted it the best French room in town last year.
The duck comes partly off the bone already, so you are not fighting it.
The one to order is the duck a l'orange at $45, the dish reviewers name over and over. Escargots run $16 and the French onion soup is $15. Doors open at 5pm on Tuesday and the last table goes in around 8pm. They hold a 4.4 across 233 Google reviews.
Chez Marie French Bistro, 5030 Champion Blvd Ste D3, Boca Raton. 561-997-0027.
Order the duck. Everybody does.
Tonight's comedian built an hour on dating apps 🎤
Jared Freid co-hosts the dating podcast U Up? with Betches, and his Netflix hour 37 & Single landed in the US top ten. He is out behind Walking Red Flag, his dating book, and tonight he takes the small room at the Boca Black Box.
Tickets are $29, the show starts at 7:00pm, and it is 18 and over.
Boca Black Box, 8221 Glades Rd, Boca Raton.
Take the friend whose group chat needs it.
The Plate
This pizza wins on burnt edges alone 🍕

Those black spots are the reason. Photo: Tripadvisor
Tucci's Fire N Coal Pizza bakes at 750 degrees, which is why the crust lands blistered and spotted black instead of pale and bendy. New Times handed it Best Pizza with the readers and the judges agreeing, and Boca Magazine reported it onto a national top ten list.
The black blisters on the crust are the point, not a mistake.
Order the 16 inch margherita at $35, or the large cheese at $22.50. It runs 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 9pm Tuesday through Saturday, and holds a 4.3 across 300 reviews on Tripadvisor.
Tucci's Fire N Coal Pizza, 341 E Yamato Rd Unit B, Boca Raton. 561-620-2930.
Ask for it well done. They know what you mean.
The Glow
Your tan gets blended while you wait ✨

Mixed for you, not poured from one jug. Photo: Tan Boca
Tan Boca mixes the solution by hand for whoever is in the room, pulling from labelled base bottles rather than spraying one stock formula on everybody. Lauren leads the floor and came to it out of a dermatology office, which is how the whole line ended up non toxic.
Your color gets mixed in front of you, one base bottle at a time.
The one to book is the contour spray at $75 for thirty minutes, which shades rather than just colors. A full body is $60. They carry a 4.92 across 261 reviews on Booksy and run 10am to 1pm and 3pm to 7pm on Tuesday.
Tan Boca, 4160 NW 1st Ave Ste 15, Boca Raton. 561-757-9855.
Book the contour. It does more than color.
The Move
A pink infrared pilates room just opened 🌸

Yes, the whole room is that pink. Photo: The Sweat Room
The Sweat Room opened its doors this month with infrared panels across the ceiling and a reserved mat for every spot on the floor. Pilates, sculpt and strength all run out of the same room, heated or not, and the staff and the whole coaching roster are women.
The heat comes down from the ceiling, so you are warm before the first stretch.
Tuesday starts at 6:00am and runs through to a 8:05pm pilates class, and the one to take is sculpt at 5:35pm. The way in is three classes for $69. They hold a 5.0 from 27 ratings on ClassPass.
The Sweat Room, 500 NE Spanish River Blvd Unit 15, Boca Raton. 561-825-8680.
Take the half five. Mats get claimed early.
The Find
She turns your needlepoint into a pillow 🧵

Somebody sat down and did this by hand. Photo: Marion's Nimble Needle
Marion's Nimble Needle opened in 1972 and moved to west Boca in 1995. Laurie runs it now, after her mother Marion. The trade's own national shop finder lists it as the only needlepoint shop in the city, and the canvases come hand painted from houses like Melissa Shirley, Leigh Designs and Jean Smith.
You pick the canvas, stitch it at home, and bring it back to be made into the pillow.
Threads come from Rainbow Gallery, Kreinik and Vineyard Silk, and the finishing into pillows, stockings and frames is done in house. The doors are open 10am to 2pm Wednesday through Saturday, and pricing on a canvas comes by email.
Marion's Nimble Needle, 23269 State Road 7 Ste 113, Boca Raton. 561-477-1219.
They open Wednesday. Pick your canvas then.
Good to Know
The dermatologist Vogue quotes works in Boca 💧

Nobody needs a twelve step routine. Image: AI generated
Dr. Jenna Queller runs DermWorks in west Boca. Beauty desks have quoted her around seventy five times this year, Vogue, Allure, CNN and TODAY among them, and she was chief resident in dermatology at Harbor-UCLA before she opened her own practice.
The person those magazines ring is the one looking at your skin.
A standard visit is $150, a mole shave removal is $250 with the pathology included, and the cosmetic consultation fee is waived if you book treatment the same day. She runs 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday and holds a 5.0 across 115 Google reviews.
DermWorks, 7000 W Palmetto Park Rd Ste 105, Boca Raton. 561-783-3376.
Book the skin check first. The rest can wait.

Want Boca to know your name?
Good in Boca lands in local inboxes five mornings a week. We work with a limited number of local businesses that want to be part of what people here are reading, doing, eating and talking about.
If Boca is your customer, you should probably be here.
Want your business featured? Hit reply and tell us what you're up to. We read everything, and we go and look.
That's your day.
Eat French and stay out. The duck at Chez Marie is on from five, and if you would rather laugh than linger, the dating app comedian takes the small room across town at seven. Either way you are home before eleven.
The thing to steal out of this issue is the pizza. Seven hundred and fifty degrees, a crust that lands black at the edges on purpose, and an award the critics and the readers agreed on for once. Order it well done and do not apologize to anybody.
