Your K-Cup Has Been Sitting in a Warehouse for Months

That grocery store pod? It was roasted long before it hit the shelf. Coffee starts losing flavor within weeks of roasting — which is why your morning cup tastes flat, no matter how nice your machine is.

Angelino's does it differently. A third-generation roaster in Los Angeles, they roast, grind, and seal every pod in-house for peak freshness, then ship it to your door within days of roasting. The difference is the first thing you'll notice: real aroma, real flavor, no bitterness.

Mix and match from 50+ specialty coffees, teas, and flavored blends — all Keurig®-compatible — and save more with every box you add, up to 34% off at 12+. Order once whenever you're running low, or subscribe for an extra 5% if that's easier. Entirely up to you.

New customers get 15% off their first order — applied automatically, no code needed.

The council and the parks board are in the same room tonight, FAU just got wired into the state's first quantum safe network link, and the man who runs city hall already has his next job lined up.

Let's get into it.

The Rundown

Your vote belongs on this week’s calendar 🗳️

Make your voice heard. Get out and vote. Early voting for the November 3 general election is open in Palm Beach County daily through Sunday, November 1, from 7:00am to 7:00pm. Eligible registered Palm Beach County voters can use any early voting location in the county. Bring current photo and signature ID, and check official locations and voting information before you go.

The parks board and the council share a room tonight 🌴

The Boca Raton City Council sits down with the Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District tonight, the two boards that decide what gets built at the parks and along the beach. It is one of two city meetings on today’s calendar.

It starts at 6:00pm in the Auditorium at 6500 N. Congress Ave, and it is open to the public.

The other is a downtown redevelopment workshop, so both agendas move on the same Monday.

If you have ever had an opinion about a Boca park, tonight is the room.

FAU is now wired into Florida’s first quantum safe link ✨

On October 15, FAU’s Boca Raton campus and Palm Beach State College switched on the first working piece of Florida’s quantum safe network. IonQ built it, and it sends encryption keys as light, so intercepting one trips the alarm.

A $1 million defense infrastructure grant from FloridaCommerce paid for it.

Miami Dade College and FAU’s Jupiter campus join within three months, on the way to a corridor of nearly 100 miles.

It does nothing for your wifi. It does a lot for whatever the labs are working on.

The man who runs city hall already has his next job ⚓

Mark Sohaney runs eight city departments and nearly 1,800 employees. On November 30 he starts running military operations for the University of Maryland Global Campus instead.

Nobody has said who runs the city in the meantime. The council takes it up on October 27.

He is a retired Navy captain, and no one has put a timeline on a permanent replacement.

Tomorrow somebody gets handed the keys, at least for a while.

What's On

Somebody solve the murder, I'll be line dancing 💃

Put down the app. Meet somebody at Eathai. 💘

Sips & Sparks brings speed dating for singles in their 40s and 50s to Eathai on Monday, October 26. Expect short, guided conversations and a mixer, with mutual matches shared afterward. Drinks are purchased separately. Check the start time, availability and book your place.
Eathai, 6299 N Federal Hwy, Boca Raton.

The library hands a room one question 💭

Socrates Cafe puts one question in front of a room of adults and lets them go at it from 1:00 to 3:00pm, free, nothing to book, and you can turn up cold.
Socrates Cafe, Spanish River Library, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd, Boca Raton. 561-393-7852.

Surrealism gets explained for free today 🎨

An art history lecture and discussion on surrealism and where it still shows up in advertising and film, 10:30am to 12:00pm, free, adults, and registration is open now. It is the only thing on the whole Monday calendar before lunch.
Egret Conference Room, Spanish River Library, 1501 NW Spanish River Blvd, Boca Raton. 561-393-7852.

The Plate

The Italian cafe went French and told no one ☕

A colder start to Monday. Illustrative photo: Pervane Mustafa27 / Pexels.

Marine Ploquin already runs Casimir French Bistro four doors down. Over the summer she quietly took over Saquella Cafe, the long-standing Italian cafe on the same little square, and kept the doors open 8:00am to 3:00pm, seven days a week. Readers have it at 4.0 from 978 on Google and 4.0 from 326 on TripAdvisor.

Order the cappuccino and the French toast and you are eating a French restaurateur's read on an Italian breakfast, which is a very Boca thing to have happen to you.

The matcha is $5.50, a cappuccino or a latte runs $5 to $6, French toast and avocado toast are both $12.50, and the bakery basket is $8.50. The licence changed hands on June 13 2026 and almost nobody noticed. See what is on the breakfast menu.
Saquella Cafe, 410 Via de Palmas, Boca Raton. 561-338-8840.

Eight in the morning, and somebody has already made it French.

The Glow

Wine first, then nails. Priorities. 💅

Lacquer Me Nail Bar keeps the lights down and puts a glass in your free hand while the lamp does its work. It holds 4.6 from 181 on Google and 4.5 from 150 on Yelp at the same time, which almost no nail room in this city manages.

The wine and the beer come with the chair, and they work Hema-free product, so you can sit through a full Russian manicure and still have comfortable nail beds on Tuesday.

An Apres Gel-X set is $85, a gel manicure $39, dipping powder $44, a pedicure $32 and a gel pedicure $57. They run 10:00am to 7:00pm, Monday through Saturday, and you can grab a chair for tonight.
Lacquer Me Nail Bar, 2401 N Federal Hwy Ste C, Boca Raton. 561-395-2665.

Monday is the easiest day to get the hour you want.

The Move

The moon is doing something and we're all invited 🌕

Brass singing bowls packed edge to edge with their wooden mallets laid across them

The bowls do the work. You lie there. Photo: WordPress Photo Directory

Tonight is the full hunter's moon, and you can meet it on the sand or under a roof. Full Moon Sound Bath and Journal Reflection runs 6:00 to 7:45pm down on the sand, guided meditation and sound healing as the moon comes up over the water.

You lie flat on the sand, somebody walks a set of brass bowls around you for an hour, and you leave with a journal prompt and a tan line you cannot explain.

A seat is $23.18 and there were still some open this morning. The forecast is heavy, 80 percent with gusts to 38, so whether it goes ahead is the organiser's call. The indoor version starts an hour later and stays dry: Full Moon Small Class at 10,000 Names Studio, 7:00 to 9:00pm, $63.90.

The Find

Nobody at the mall has this dress 👗

Michelle Farmer bought a warehouse in 2017 and turned it into her own factory, a patternmaker and five seamstresses, and WWD wrote the whole thing up in May 2021. Her shop sits inside the Beach Club and is open daily, 10:00am to 6:00pm.

One seamstress takes a garment from the first cut to the last stitch, so the dress you buy was made by one pair of hands rather than passed down a line.

The floor is resort wear, swim, fine jewelry and accessories. The Kat Maxi is $1,995, the Slip Skirt $985, the Cara Cardi $700 and the Bardot Top $435. It sits at 3.9 from 11 on Google, which is a thin count on a shop this new to most people, and you can see where it sits among the other stores.
Michelle Farmer Collaborate, Beach Club at The Boca Raton, 900 S Ocean Blvd, Boca Raton. 561-447-3628.

There is a cardigan named Cara. We are choosing to take that personally

There's no doctor to go ask. She's it. 👩‍⚕

Rachel Huerta, APRN, of Direct Primary Care of Boca Raton

Rachel Huerta, APRN. Photo: Direct Primary Care of Boca Raton.

Rachel K. Huerta, APRN runs Direct Primary Care of Boca Raton outright. She is president and her own registered agent on the state record, with no physician sitting above her, and the practice holds 4.9 from 219 on Google.

You text your own provider directly, by app, email or phone, and you get the person whose name is on the door rather than whoever is on shift.

Adult memberships start from $75 a month. She has held ARNP licence 9212351 in her own name since before she opened, filed her Medicare opt-out in 2018, is immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Boca Raton, was named a 2017 Healthcare Woman of Distinction and came up through FAU nursing. The office runs Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and you can read how the membership works.

RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing 2-Step Peel Pads, Step 1 and Step 2

The two-step treatment. Photo: RoC Skincare.

Been using the RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing 2-Step Peel Pads for a few weeks now. Step 1 is the peel pad, you leave it on two minutes, Step 2 is the smoothing pad. That is the whole routine.

Retinol and glycolic acid doing the actual work. Two minutes. Less time than it takes anyone on The Bachelor to say they are here for the right reasons.

RoC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing 2-Step Peel Pads, $38.99, at drugstores and on rocskincare.com.

Two minutes. That is the entire ask.

That's your day.

The library has your whole day covered before dinner, surrealism in the morning and a room full of adults arguing after lunch, and neither one costs you a thing.

Then the moon comes up, the brass bowls come out on the sand, and somewhere across town somebody is pouring you a glass while your nails set. Not bad for a town that likes to pretend nothing happens here.
