Boca has a different city manager as of midnight, the police headquarters question is headed for your March ballot with a smaller number on it, and sixty apartments are about to replace an office parking lot.
Let's get into it.
The Rundown
Somebody new was running Boca before you woke up ☕
James L. Zervis, the deputy city manager and CFO, picked up the city manager's powers at 12 a.m. today under the city charter, with Mark Sohaney stepping back from active service ahead of his November 11 resignation.
Sohaney stays on in an advisory role until November 11, then starts at the University of Maryland Global Campus on November 30.
A permanent appointment was not on Tuesday night's agenda, so the word interim is doing a lot of work here.
Thirteen months in the chair, and the parking still is not fixed.

The police station is back on your ballot, cheaper this time 🔥
Ballot language for up to $125 million in general obligation bonds to replace the 40-year-old police headquarters went back to the council Tuesday night, aimed at the March 9, 2027 city election.
About $93 a year on a home with $475,000 of taxable value, against the $123.74 version Boca voted down in March.
The current station is 35,000 square feet and holds 331 people. It was built in 1986 for 145.
They cut sixty five million off the ask. Now they find out if that was the problem.

Sixty apartments are landing on an office parking lot 🏠
The Bertani at Broken Sound went to the council Tuesday night for its final vote, eight stories and 60 units on the parking lot of two 1984 office buildings, after the planning board approved it unanimously on October 15.
Six of the 60 are affordable rentals, locked in for 30 years after the building opens.
Residents get a second floor spa, a pool, a club room and a golf simulator on 11 acres backing onto the Old Course, at 5901 and 6001 NW Broken Sound Parkway. A 2,700 square foot restaurant or retail building goes up with it.
A golf simulator, on a golf course. Boca is nothing if not thorough.

Good to Know
You can actually touch the fabric here 🪑

This is what a swatch turns into. Photo: WordPress Photo Directory
Designer's Mark has been working out of a plaza in Logger's Run for more than twenty-five years, and it is an official Romo showcase, which is the British fabric house most of the pretty rooms around here are quietly built from. Houzz gave it Best of Houzz for service and rates it 5.0 from 8.
Being a showcase means the full Romo books are on the table in front of you, so you are feeling the weave instead of guessing at it off a screen.
Open 10:00am to 5:00pm Wednesday. They quote by the project rather than publishing a list, so go in with your measurements and the room in your head.
Designer's Mark, 10018 Spanish Isles Blvd Ste A8, Boca Raton. 561-961-4149.
Take a cushion you already own. It makes the whole thing faster.

Order the matcha before November takes it, book the 3D nail art and hand the phone over, set an alarm for the sand, try the dress on before you have anywhere to wear it, and go put your hands on the fabric out west.
