Issue No. 47 | Monday, November 2, 2026
Forecast: National Weather Service Miami
Two new registration kiosks just turned on inside Boca Publix stores, the covered pickleball courts at Patch Reef cleared 200,000 players in their first year, and somebody is asking $125 million for a house on the Intracoastal.
Let's get into it.
The Rundown
A note before today's issue 💙
On Sunday, a private jet went down off Military Trail, and all nine people on board lost their lives. Our hearts go out to their families and friends, and to the neighbors who had to leave their homes while crews worked the scene. Hold your people a little closer today.
Your car decal now prints next to the deli 🚗
Palm Beach County Tax Collector Anne M. Gannon switched on four new MV Express kiosks on Sunday, and two of them are in Boca, at the Publix at Fifth Avenue Shops and the Publix at Polo Club Shops.
The machine renews your registration and prints the decal on the spot in about two minutes, with a $4.50 convenience fee and a 2.3% card fee on top.
Bring your renewal notice PIN or plate number, the first owner’s date of birth and a card. The county is up to 17 kiosks now, and Boca already had two more, at 9720 Clint Moore Road and 7060 W. Palmetto Park Road.
No appointment, no counter, no morning gone.

The courts with a roof took over Boca pickleball 🎾
The covered pickleball complex at Patch Reef Park just turned one, and the district says more than 200,000 people played there in the first year.
It is covered, so rain does not cancel your game, and the outdoor tennis and pickleball courts beside it have all reopened.
The Patch Reef Paddle and Racquet Club runs open play, reserved courts, monthly tournaments and clinics at different times through the day. Nicholas Keener, who works in the pickleball industry, told the district it is “country-club nice.”
On a day like this one, the roof is the whole amenity.
Somebody wants $125 million for a Boca house 🏠
The 18,000 square foot house that former Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt built on the Intracoastal just hit the market at $125 million.
That is $50 million past the Boca record set in May, and the property tax bill alone runs $678,031 a year.
It sits on NE 5th Avenue with 220 feet of no-wake dock frontage and a 78 foot pool, on an assessed value of $43,968,757. Maria Mendelsohn of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
The pool is longer than most Boca backyards.

Free coffee and strangers at nine ☕

Iced, obviously. Photo: Caglar Araz on Unsplash
Monday Coffee and Connection ☕ runs 9:00 to 10:00am in Mizner Park, hosted by The Worth Group. Free, and an hour long, which is about right for a Monday.
It costs nothing and it is done by ten, so it fits before the day properly starts.

Spend a morning being kind to strangers on purpose 💌
The Random Acts of Kindness Spree 💌 sets off from Tin Muffin Cafe at 11:00am. A live host guides you around town by phone, and at every stop you do something small for someone you have never met: a note left for a stranger, a coffee for the person behind you in line.
After the weekend Boca just had, this is the one worth showing up for.

Speed dating runs twice in a beer garden 🍺
Biergarten Boca 🍻 hosts Palm Beach Speed Dating tonight, with the 30s and 40s room at 8:15pm. The 50s and 60s session runs at 6:15, so the place turns over completely before yours starts.
There is a free tier on the door, so you can see the room before you commit to anything.

A dinner club gives the night's money away 🍴
Foodies + New Friends 🍝 takes over Rino's of Boca at 7:00pm for its Giving Back edition. You get seated with strangers and you leave having eaten with them.
Everyone at the table arrived on their own, which takes the hard part out of it.

Somebody built a treasure hunt downtown 🔍
The Boca Raton Bash 🗺️ sets off from Tin Muffin Cafe at 11:00am and runs two hours through downtown. It is a scavenger hunt for adults and it ends where the coffee is.
Two hours on foot through streets you drive past, finishing at a cafe that has been there since forever.

You can hit a drum for an hour tonight 🥁
Hand drumming 🥁 runs at the Unitarian Fellowship from 6:30pm. No experience, no instrument of your own, and it is indoors on the wettest night of the week.
You turn up with nothing and they hand you something to play.

The Plate
Pick your own pain level at the counter 🌶

Somewhere between Lite Mild and the one they warn you about.
Dave's Hot Chicken 🌶️ out west does one bird seven ways, spiced to order on a ladder that starts at Not Hot and finishes at Reaper. The chicken is halal, which almost nothing else out that way is, and the kitchen runs until 11:00pm on a Monday when the rest of Boca has given up.
Sliders come two to an order, so you can run two heat levels at once and find out where you actually sit.
Worth ordering: the tenders if you want to taste the spice, the sliders if you want to compare, and one step hotter than you think. They are 4.6 from 1,040 across Google and Yelp. Call 561-245-6706.
20642 State Rd 7 N, Boca Raton, FL 33498
Open 11:00am to 11:00pm, every day of the week.
And the Colombian counter that opens at seven ☕
Monday needs a coffee place. Colombian Coffee House ☕ brings its coffee in from South America and puts real Colombian food next to it, which is a different proposition from a pastry case. Pandebono is $3.15 and the arepa con queso is $4.75.
Doors open at seven and stay open until eight at night, so it works at either end of the day.
They are 4.6 from 261. Call 561-825-8255.

The Glow
Nobody puts your hands in water here 💅

No soak, and it still looks like this. Photo: Namaste Nail Sanctuary
Namaste Nail Sanctuary 💅 took runner-up for Mani/Pedi Salon in the Observer's 2026 Readers' Choice, voted by more than ten thousand readers. The reason to go is the method. The salon is acrylic free and every manicure is done dry, so there are no soaking bowls anywhere in the room. Cuticle work is done with an e-file, the pedicure bowls are copper with a fresh liner each time, and the whole place is phone free on purpose.
Skipping the soak is why the polish lasts, and you sit in a zero gravity chair for the whole thing.
Worth booking: the 3D nail art at $65, which is a full hour on its own, chrome or cat eye at $15, or the dry hard gel at $95. Ask for Maddie, who does the art. They are 4.5 from 396 on Google. Call 561-299-5439.
5250 Town Center Circle Ste 127, Boca Raton, FL 33486
Open 10:00am to 7:00pm today.
The Move
Train like you are racing, indoors, today 💪

On the turf, indoors, while it does whatever it is doing outside. Photo: Focus Functional Fitness
Focus Functional Fitness 🏋️♀️ runs Hyrox training on Mondays, which is race format rather than a class grid. Sled, ski, carry, run, repeat. Eight thousand square feet with an indoor floor and an outdoor one, so the whole session moves under a roof when it pours, which today it will.
The doors open at half five in the morning and do not close until half seven at night, so there is no version of your Monday that misses it.
The proof is not their marketing. A Google reviewer three weeks ago: "One of the best gyms. I highly recommend their Hyrox classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays." They are 4.9 from 48 on Google. Call 561-866-2060.

Or dance it off in a city building 💃
Zumba 💃 runs 7:00 to 8:00pm tonight at the Boca Raton Community Center, taught by Andrea Legato. Bring water and light hand weights.
It is an hour of Zumba indoors, so tonight's rain does not cancel your workout.
Residents $7, everyone else $8.75, activity #112294. Call 561-393-7807.

Beyonce stopped the show for her 👑

Ruffles in the window on Palmetto Park. Photo: Fancy James Boutique
Fancy James 👗 was born Jems Cesar in Haiti. She prayed her way out of the 2010 earthquake, landed in Miami with no plan, and talked her way into her first job by rebuilding a store's inventory and proving it could sell high end. She worked up to buyer and manager, drove that brand into Mizner Park, and then opened her own shop downtown.
You can rent a piece by the night instead of buying it, which solves the dress nobody wants to be photographed in twice.
She carries Balmain and Dolce & Gabbana, and she designs her own leather line that no other boutique has yet. Ask for those. She also styles for events and shoots under House of Fancy. They are 5.0 from 10 on Google, a small count honestly, but every one of them is five stars. Call 561-717-8936.
111 E Palmetto Park Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33432
Open 10:00am to 6:00pm today.
Good to Know
The machines run all night out back 🫧

Drop it off, pick it up folded. Photo: Dan LeFebvre on Unsplash
On a day that drops two inches of rain on everything you own, Boca Laundry and Cleaners 🧺 is the one that never shuts. The self service floor is open 24 hours, seven days, and they have just put in new front loaders. The biggest takes eighty pounds.
Eighty pounds means a flooded Monday goes in one machine instead of six, at whatever hour you give up and drive over.
The part nobody knows is the tailoring counter behind it, and the card is published so you are not guessing: pants hemmed $15, a jean hem $20.50, a zipper $16, an invisible zipper in a dress $25, jacket sleeves shortened $30. Wash and fold starts at $2.05 a pound. They are 4.6 from 168 on Google. Call 561-447-4290.
1900 NW 2nd Ave, Boca Raton, FL 33432
Drop off runs 8:00am to 5:00pm. The machines do not care what time it is.

The bottle doing all the work on my face ✨

One pump and the morning is handled. Photo: YISE Beauty
I found the thing that works. This weekend it was the YISE Beauty Skin Glow SPF 30 Tinted Sunscreen Primer ✨. Sunscreen, primer and a tint in one step, which on a grey Monday is the entire routine.
It is the greatest for glowy skin with no makeup. That is the whole review.
Sephora has it, sitting at 4 stars from 357 ratings and flagged for glow, protection and sensitive skin.

That's your day.
The coffee crowd in Mizner Park gets going at nine ☕, and the kindness spree heads out from Tin Muffin at eleven 💌. If you would rather meet people after dark, the beer garden runs speed dating for the thirties crowd at a quarter past eight 🍻.
Eat the hot chicken one step above where you think you sit. Get the nails done somewhere nobody soaks your hands. And if the whole day gets away from you, the laundry on the north side never closes.
See you tomorrow.
