The Night Market is back for the evening 🛍️
The city runs its Night Market once a month and November's is tonight, outdoors, under a sky the forecast has at sunny and eighty four. Local makers set up with food, sweet treats, art and live music. On this month's published list: Eddie's Dark Chocolate, SugarLit Candles, Lala's Jungle houseplants, Kogi Jewelery, JP's Delights jams and Vail Valley Granola. Download the Circuit app and the city's BocaConnect shuttle will run you there and back.
You come home with chocolate, a candle and a houseplant, and the ride there and back is free.

Draft to Screen meets at the library 🎬
Draft to Screen is a free group for filmmakers, writers, animators, musicians and artists, and it meets on the first Thursday of the month, which is tonight. The evening runs on three things: time to meet people, a round of project pitches with an accountability board, and a workshop from somebody working in the industry. Wilandy Castelin co-founded it and her short film Home has been selected by seven festivals. Her co-founder Nabil Sealy was on the winning team of the 48-Hour Film Competition in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale region. Every level is welcome and nothing is charged.
You can pitch the thing you keep not finishing and walk out with people who want to help you finish it.

The Plate
Sunday couscous, but make it Thursday 🍲

One plate, several forks. Photo: Nagila via YeahThatsKosher
Nagila Moroccan Cuisine opened in west Boca this fall, a small kosher room of about seven or eight tables cooking the food of Morocco. Get the couscous, heaped with chickpeas, squash and beef, and start with the Moroccan cigars and the Fibi pastels, fried potato patties served with pickled vegetables. Add a bowl of harira, the chickpea and lentil soup with warm spices, and finish with malabi under crushed pistachios and rose water.
A mountain of couscous lands in the middle of the table and everybody reaches in at once.
Nagila Moroccan Cuisine, 6919 SW 18th St #102, Boca Raton 33433. (561) 576-4177. Thursday 11:00am to 9:00pm. · See the menu
There is a Shabbat takeout menu too, if you want Friday dinner handled.

Makeup, done by somebody else for once. Photo: ISO Republic
Readers of the Boca Raton Observer voted Wild Hare the best in the city for makeup artistry this year, which is the part worth knowing now that the party invitations have started. The team has been working in Boca for more than twenty five years and its work has turned up in Cosmopolitan, Vogue and Modern Salon. They do wedding and event faces as well as everyday ones, and Jaye Cosmetics runs permanent makeup out of the same room. Every year the salon hands a full day of beauty and gifts to thirty breast cancer survivors and the people who got them through it.
You sit down before the party and get up with a face built to hold up in everybody else's photographs.
Wild Hare Salon & Spa, 1001 SW 2nd Ave Ste 8000, Boca Raton 33432. (561) 347-8100. Thursday 9:00am to 8:00pm. · Book
Thursday is the one night they stay open until eight.
The Move
Finish Thursday with a slow yin class 🧘

Eight classes on the board today. Photo: ISO Republic
Yoga Journey has been running in west Boca for more than fourteen years and readers of the Boca Raton Observer voted it the best yoga studio in the city this year. Leslie Glickman owns it and still teaches on the schedule herself. The room is not heated, which is the thing people either come for or stay away for. Thursday has eight classes on the board, starting with mat Pilates at eight in the morning and finishing with Victoria Orlikova's yin at seven thirty at night. Once a month Leslie takes a community vinyasa flow into the Boca Raton Museum of Art, and the next one is Sunday morning.
Eight classes on one Thursday, and the last one puts you on the floor at seven thirty with the lights down.
Yoga Journey, 6877 SW 18th St Ste 202, Boca Raton 33433. 561-479-7819. Thursday classes 8:00am to 8:30pm. · Book a class
Classes from $15, semi private reformer Pilates $45.
Yoga at the Museum is Sunday at nine and it books through the museum, not the studio.
The Find
You know the kimonos. Look closer. 🌹

Roses stitched into cable knit. Photo: Johnny Was
You may know Johnny Was for its silk kimonos and boho dresses, but did you know the California label was built on embroidery? Everything starts as artwork and then gets stitched into the garment, which is why a rose and cherry blossom spray on grey cable knit reads like something somebody drew rather than something printed. The Boca store sits inside Town Center, and this season there is a collection made with Natori on the floor alongside the velvet.
The embroidery sits up off the knit enough to feel under your hand, which a print never does.
Johnny Was, Town Center, 6000 Glades Rd Ste 1214A, Boca Raton 33431. 561-367-4310. Thursday 10:00am to 9:00pm. · Store page
They wrap gifts at the counter, which starts to matter more every week from here.
Good to Know
Let somebody else build the board 🧀

You will still take the credit. Photo: Graze Craze
Graze Craze builds charcuterie boards, boxes and trays to order, and the Boca shop is run by Cindee Conner, a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel who changed careers to do it. Cured meats, cheeses, fruit and house-made dips and jams get arranged by hand, with a brunch board for morning get-togethers and a sweet board piled with desserts. Pick it up or have it delivered, and it is the easiest way to walk into a holiday party looking like you planned ahead.
You set the board down and everyone takes a picture of it before anyone takes a bite.
Graze Craze, 1820 N Dixie Hwy Suite 1820, Boca Raton 33432. (561) 560-7272. Thursday 10:00am to 5:00pm. · See the boards
Thanksgiving week is the one to order ahead for.

My trainer does handstands on park benches 🤸♀️

This is her warm up. Photo: Built by Rhema
I found the thing that works. Her name is Rhema, and she is my trainer. I have had trainers for years and I am a certified trainer myself, so I did not walk in expecting much to change. Then my entire body changed. Not a little tighter, not "I think I see it" in the right lighting. Changed. She was a competitive gymnast for ten years and ran track in college, and she trains me like she knows exactly what my body can do before I do. She trains in person in Boca and online from anywhere. I also built her website, which tells you how much I believe in her.
Working with her has been transformational, and I say that as someone who has had trainers for years and is certified herself.
Built by Rhema, NASM certified personal training in Boca Raton and online coaching. Book at builtbyrhema.com. · Book a session
Bring water. She will not go easy on you, and that is exactly why it works.

Trivia teams dressed to win, a Polo Club full of board games, couscous for the whole table and a Santana solo to close it out. Thursday is not playing around.
If you only do one thing, make it the Night Market. Lit palms, local makers, and a tote you will fill faster than you planned.
